Love On The Wait

Touch my heart
Let me melt into your arms
Am a singer bird waiting for someone to listen to my sweet melodies
Chirp chirp chirp my lyrics go
And sweet they sound in the ears of the one who loves me
Soften your hands
Then I can feel your touch better
Allow me in
Then enjoy my rhythm
The sweetness which is reserved for you
For you and you alone

Slaves Again

Slaves Again Slaves of yesterday Written on their backs with whips was history of their status. Others, with the names which they carried. Rest was a commodity most could barely afford than to deny. But those people were not in the chains of nowadays. Their struggle wasn't with the virtual but the real. Humans against fellow humans and being inhuman. Sailing on the seas to unknown lands Without having the opportunity to see what the other sees till they see another land. But the story is different now. Our history today is written on untouchable parchments.  Our masters being our own creations. Driven by varied addictions, We deny ourselves even an affordable rest. Sailing to unknown lands; Places we may never step our foot upon. Being chained to our detractors bought with our own money. The chains are visible but the breaking is difficult.  Wish generations to come escape this captivity. Oh how can we win war waged against our own selves? By Wise Makafui Afun

My Mother

I know a warrior, a woman. A man with a softer side but never allows to be pushed aside. She accepts no no until her children are satisfied. Always on her feet face to face with terror and defeat. Yet she dances strategically to the economical beat. Strong not just for herself but also for her children. Her plans for tomorrow is set even before he comes knocking.  And satisfaction of her family is her spoil of war.  Second in command but not to her family's demand. Can't compare her to any other Because, she is my mother. By ; Wise Makafui Afun
